Rad HD RC Beach Video

I don't have much to tell you today. I'm going to add some cars to the garage this weekend. I should have the TA02 wrapped up and ready for a photoshoot next week. Depending on my schedule, I'll start scouting locations soon.

This video was so awesome. No fire and mostly slow speeds but man the quality and cinematography is amazing despite it being a giant commercial for Sony Ericsson. There's many different RC's in this video. Watch it and enjoy your weekend.

BTW this bikini shot is the sexiest part so enjoy it while it lasts.

HPI Wants My Money

HPI, in your face, in your wallet, and on your car. I don't have a chassis for either of them, but I want them. I want them like i want Eva Mendes more really nice RC bodies. 1969 Camaro. Wow, I was really hoping this would come out. The plan was to make a Big Red tribute with the TA02W as the base. I got tired of waiting for it and went in a different direction. Its here now. I have another chassis. This body is so beautiful. I just don't need to change up on another project. I'll park it in the back of my head next to the Maserati 8C. Yes this monkeyfingering Maserati 8C Competizione. This thing has some sweet curves. It seems a bit bubbly but I am willing to bet it will look sweet in real life.

Ford RS200 In Lexan 1/10 Scale Beauty

The Ford RS200. I knew nothing about this car. Back in those days we did not get World Rally broadcasts and there was no internet video. Then Kyosho dropped this animal . I fell in lust and wanted the body for my Ultima but I never found it in the Tower Hobbies catalog. Now this new company called Controlfreax (I'm sick of the x's too) has a really nice one at a great price, did I mention it was also available in carbon? I have been itching to build a tarmac rally car with a bank of lights across the front, actually I want to do that in real life too. I'll do the math on which one is cheaper, the RC or making lights for my 240sx. I have also included a video of awesomeness. As a child my mother bought me the raddest Darda set in the store. Yup, the one with the upside down jump. This thing is like that one times infinity. Check it out.

OFNA JL10e Corny Name Awesome Car

This car has people buzzing all over the internet. Apparently it's inexpensive, sturdy, and fast. Great characteristics for a touring car! I had a Z10Pro a while back and it was crappy. I didn't drive it but I built it. I wasn't happy with it. I would assume this car is of much better quality. I guess I really shouldn't disparage the Z10 since it was known as a good car 12 years ago. Any how this one looks good and it may join my collection.

I have to apologize for posting so late. I was working on the TA02. Man that car is coming out so darn sexy. You will see it soon.

Traxxas XL 2.5 with a 540 Sized Motor

I have been curious about the little Traxxas XL-2.5 esc. I have two in my Redcat RS10 and they're amazing. My only complaints are the brakes are weak and the lack of a switch. Since I had a good experience with it in that vehicle, I wondered how one would work in a car. I could not find any clue to its amp rating so I had no idea what it could take. Because of that I decided to put one in my M02 with a Mabuchi silvervan.

Traxxas Now Has Bodies For Its 4wd Mini!

Many of you have noticed that Traxxas' new mini is as wide as Jlo. Yes its a mini but it's nearly as wide as a standard touring car. That means no normal mini bodies will fit. What are you going to do? Add one heck of a wide body? Nope, Traxxas has you covered (see what I did there?). The mustang looks a little goofy but the Focus looks sweet. If you look in the window of the Focus you will see a big honkin motor mount. That's for the 550 Titan that is supposed to come with the brushed version. I guess they're going to jam an XL-5 in there. I have been testing the XL-2.5 with a Mabuchi silvercan in my M03. Find out how it's working out tomorrow. For now check out these pics:

Oh yes, because I love you people, I want you to have this; Watch F1 Live. Its a link to a place that streams all sessions of the Formula 1 weekend. Check here for the time and date of the next race (Hint: this weekend is a race weekend).

HPI Mclaren F1 LM 200mm of Sexyness

HPI found their niche when touring cars came out. I'm glad to see they have stuck with it. This new body has been a point of contention on the forums lately. People have been arguing that it is different from the original Mclaren body they released in the 90's. The one from the 90's was a standard F1 this one is the F1 LM which was based on the Le Mans winning F1 GTR. I don't care about semantics I am just glad there is a Mclaren body out that's not the million dollar Kyosho version. I would have liked to see some racing livery, like Harrod's but that is too much to ask for.

I went to the hobby shop today. I was good, I only bought two cans of paint. The sad part is one can was Pactra Competition Orange. I was in a half sleep state when my brain got high on nostalgia. It decided that I could take a certain chassis and buy a one way, some tires and a body and make a mashup of two of my old cars. I have only painted one body that color and buying that can has sealed the deal. OJ is coming back! You will see it soon. My Yokomo YR-4 came today. Good news, I now have everything I need for that car. Bad news, another project added to the list. Anyways my headlight buckets also came so now the TA02 will get finished this week.
#17547 MCLAREN F1 LM BODY (200mm)

The McLaren F1 LM is one of the highest performance supercars ever, boasting a rare balance of handling and speed. Powered by a 627 hp V12 engine, it set the record for the fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 240 mph and blistering acceleration. The styling is pure supercar... low and wide with aerodynamics tuned for stability at high speed. Only 106 McLaren F1 cars were built and only 5 of those were the high performance "LM" version that featured a large rear wing and special badging.

If you've always dreamed of owning a Mclaren F1 LM, grab this 200mm version designed to fit 1/10 scale touring cars. Included with the body is a pre-cut decal sheet that include window lines, headlights, grills, tail lights, official logos and much more, providing your touring car with a realistically finished product.

Overspray film is included, as well as vinyl window masks to make painting quick and simple. An instruction sheet is included for the decals, and the body has dimple marks for body post drill locations.

Tamiya TL01 Ford Focus Rally Conversion

INTRO: This is chilout3070's Ford Escort Rally. It started life as TL01 Castrol Supra. He originally built it to the TL01 XB (Extreme Build) spec's here. After a few teething problems the car was shelved. It sat for a while until he dropped it off at the RC Street Source garage to be converted to a rally car. We knew the car would be loaded as the owner is not shy about buying hopu-ps. The car was still very impressive as we had never seen a TL01 That someone put so much love into outside of the internet. The car showed up wearing the rare and very hard to find TL01 Lightweight Chassis Set. If that wasn't rare enough he also installed the Tamiya Long Suspension Arm Conversion, When you buy the conversion it also comes with a swaybar set for the front and the rear. The upgrades didn't end there, the car was also fitted with Tamiya's CVA shocks and alloy wheel hexes. GPM also provided an aluminum driveshaft, universals, and foam front bumper. The last upgrade we found on the car was a full set of bearings.

BUILD: Since our job was to make it rally worthy, we went to work raising the suspension. Once we got that dialed the car needed some off road traction. Tamiya's Rally Block tires fit the bill perfectly. To add a little bling bling the owner wanted to use chrome HPI Stock Car wheels, so we fit the rally treads to them and bolted them on. Of course we had to remove the Tamiya TL01 Speed tuned gearset the owner installed and drop the stock gearing back in to get those big tire spinning and get some torque to the ground to get up steep inclines. Power is also need to spin tires and the Traxxas 20T Stinger motor we installed provided plenty. The no-name Chinese esc the owner was using seemed up to the task of powering this beast, the one we put in the viper is still doing well. The final step was to change the body posts to fit the escort body and detail it. There is a point of contention with those. The owner like long body posts. We like to cut them down. His argument is he may want to change bodies down the road. We say, body posts are $6. The customer is always right so they're long.

PERFORMANCE: The car rips! Take it into the dirt and it throws rooster tails everywhere. I could slide it around a corner and flick the tail around on command. It was very stable with only a hint of push on the pavement. All in all I would consider this car a success. So much so I have most of the same parts to build my own rally TL01. If I were to build it again I would have used shorter spring with spacers so it could be easily lowered for tarmac, and cut down the body posts. I am trying to coordinate a bash session with the owner to get some action shots.
