Good ol' American Muscle! TC6 Factory Team

Team Ass. (best abbreviated name ever) has dropped a doozy of a touring car. The TC3 was a great car. I have one that, surprise, doesn't get driven. I am allergic to SAE hardware. I have some gold pan RC10's to help me but I have a strong urge to convert them. This is the new TC6 Factory Team. Look, drool, love.

TC6 Factory Team

The RC10TC6 Factory Team kit is the newest edition to the family and legacy of competitive, high performance 4WD touring cars by Team Associated. Designed to take full advantage of all the latest technological advances made in 1:10 scale electronics, the TC6 has been optimized to use all of the benefits offered by brushless motor systems and LiPo batteries. The engineers behind the doors of Area 51 have been hard at work developing the TC6 to blend the best qualities of high performance and adjustability without sacrificing durability or ease of maintenance.

The TC6 takes the same suspension components from the TC5R before it and adds many new features, making it even better. For improved weight distribution, the TC6 motor mount has been moved 13mm closer to the chassis center line and the spur gear has been lowered 5mm compared to the TC5. These changes result in a more centralized mass and lower center of gravity for the TC6 chassis. The servo mounting holes are slotted to not only accommodate different servos but also to optimize the position of the servo mass.

The TC6 includes the Factory Team VCS3 shock package that features hard-anodized threaded shock bodies with bottom-loaded seals. The VCS3 shocks are super smooth and have an increased stroke for more up-travel at the wheels, all adding up to more consistent overall traction.

An updated steering system with additional Ackermann options and an improved steering input rate gives the TC6 more consistent handling. Blue titanium turnbuckles come with new ballcup eyelets for easier access to the ball studs.
These are only a few of the many refinements that can be found in the RC10TC6 Factory Team kit - making it yet another Champion by Design!
Release: October 2010

Idea Stealing Number 2

Look at this! More and more RC bodies are coming with headlight buckets. Some look alright some look not so much. This is a slick little idea for those bodies without chrome plated light buckets. The idea is you go to your local craft store and buy some adhesive metallic film. Cut it to fit in your light buckets and viola! instant awesome. This effect could also be had with transparent colored film and chrome buckets.

Alex Racing Invented the TA05VDF Before Tamiya

OK I was looking at the Tamiya TA05VDF the other day and was hit by a strange deja vu. I felt like I saw it before. Well it turns out I did. Back in the day in an old issue of RCCA they had a sneak peek at the Club Enthuse 4. That car had a front motor and belt drive.
The theory back then was simple, put more weight on the front end and get more steering. Anyhow, not many of these cars made it over here to the states so we are mostly unfamiliar with it. I can't get any specs on it other than these pics.

The story doesn't end there. The guy who made it started a company called Alex Racing. They kept the design and first did a re-release of it called the Alex CE-1000. That went so well they had another re-release called the CER D08 TX Version with SSG and cool colors. This chassis looks sweet and I want one now. Among so many other things...
Alex Racing CE-1000
You gotta love Japanese to English translations.
You answer to the demand of the drift user and reissue it limits sell CLUB Enthuse 4. 5 years than start of sale. It is becoming boom of these days, the CLUB Enthuse 4 which comes to the point of with again receiving attention ‘ the drift ‘ with. The chassis style which adopts the front midship in the drift car shows the highest performance. With alec sleigh singing design the user way you answered to the demand of reissue and you came to the point of this each time doing limitation production. As for the number of limitations 30. The alumite becomes sale only of the blue.

Tamiya Releases More OMG

The new TA05 looks rad with a set of pink Skyways. The Endless 370Z looks unfortunate. The 240Z is love at first sight. There has been talk that the touring car segment is fading. People are saying it has "teched" itself out of the reach of normal hobbyists. I can't disagree. I think one problem is that most of us just stopped playing in parking lots. When you're zipping around a parking lot with a few friends its fun. It doesn't matter if you're running the latest and greatest or an old reliable. The other problem is the automotive culture in general is seeing a dip in popularity as well. Remember RC cars are scale models. Without a strong "car lust" people are less inclined to build scale models of them. While other manufacturers abandon one segment to chase another, Tamiya will buck the trends and make awesome kits forever. I hope.
